Julie Flannagan, MMFT

Counselor of Marriage & Family Therapy

"When we love a person, we accept him or her exactly as is: the lovely with the unlovely, the strong with the fearful, the true mixed in with the façade, and of course, the only way we can do it is by accepting ourselves that way."
~ Fred Rogers

Goodlettsville Location & Virtual

Julie has a passion for helping others transform their hardships into strengths. She has been through her own challenges and knows how much we can learn and grow from facing adversity. She is passionate about supporting you in finding your best self on the other side of whatever might be dragging you down. She brings warmth, directness, and valuable life experience to her work as a Marriage and Family Therapist.

Julie has training in Brainspotting (Phase I) and in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and enjoys working with couples using this approach.  She has a passion for EFT and aspires to one day complete her certification.   Julie has studied many theories and approaches for assisting couples, families, and individuals through difficulties they may face, from depression or anxiety to relationship issues to grief and loss. She is excited to be continually exploring and learning new ways to help her clients. Julie has experience with grief and loss, PTSD, parenting issues, and childhood trauma, and draws on her personal journey in these areas as well. Before taking this path, Julie worked offering early intervention support with children under the age of three who have special needs and their parents.

Therapy has been essential in Julie’s own growth and healing. Her understanding of the personal strength and sense of self that therapy can provide is what motivated her to enter the field. She believes in attentive listening, the power of our thoughts and actions, and that we all have the ability to change our lives and relationships. Julie brings compassion and kindness to her work with every client, as she sees the strengths in all of us. She looks forward to meeting you where you’re at in your life journey and supporting your personal and emotional growth and transformation.

Julie is under the clinical supervision of Joanna Dixon, LMFT & AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
